Officials in North Carolina say search-and-rescue teams are going door to door to check on people who may be injured or in need of assistance after Hurricane Dorian swamped Ocracoke Island with floodwaters. Gov. Roy Cooper's office said in a news release Saturday that emergency officials have transported fuel trucks, generators, and food and water to Ocracoke, which is accessible only by boat or air. The Latest: Ukraine leader greets prisoners freed by Russia Posted: 07 Sep 2019 07:40 AM PDT Ukraine's president says the exchange of prisoners with Russia is a step toward improving relations between Moscow and Kyiv and eventually ending the conflict in Ukraine's east. Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Saturday greeted 35 Ukrainians who were freed by Russia as they debarked from a plane at an airport in the capital. Ukraine also freed 35 prisoners, who flew to Moscow. More than 200 fighters trying to cross into Kashmir from Pakistan: India Posted: 07 Sep 2019 04:39 AM PDT More than 200 suspected militants are trying to cross into Indian Kashmir from Pakistan, India's national security adviser said on Saturday, accusing Islamabad of trying to stoke violence in the region. Pakistan condemned India's decision last month to revoke the constitutional autonomy of Kashmir and Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday vowed the fullest possible response to India's actions in the disputed territory.
