North Korea said it tested a miniaturized hydrogen nuclear device on Wednesday on orders from leader Kim Jong Un. Trump, leading the race for the Republican nomination in November's election, said the United States was not doing enough to make China more accountable for North Korea's actions.

In a surprise announcement Pyongyang said it had carried out a hydrogen blast. "The republic's first hydrogen bomb test has been successfully performed at 10:00 am on January 6, 2016, based on the strategic determination of the Workers' Party," a state television news reader said.
