Equifax - First the hacking, then the lawsuits Posted: 09 Sep 2017 02:27 AM PDT Seven hours is all it took for Equifax Inc to be hit with two lawsuits over a hacking that may have compromised personal information for 143 million American consumers. "This could be the gift that keeps on giving for years." The lawsuits were filed on behalf of consumers accusing Equifax of negligence, or wilful misconduct, in failing to properly safeguard Social Security and driver's license numbers, birth dates, addresses and sometimes credit card data. DACA tied to better mental health for children of immigrants Posted: 08 Sep 2017 08:35 PM PDT By Lisa Rapaport (Reuters Health) - Protecting young undocumented immigrants known as "dreamers" from deportation may also help lower the risk of mental health problems for their U.S.-born children, a recent study suggests. The Trump administration this week announced plans to revoke the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which allowed about 800,000 undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children to remain in the country. For the study, researchers examined data on 5,653 mothers in Oregon born just before and after the cutoff for DACA eligibility. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
