Erdogan says Turkey will crush 'terror army' in northern Syria Posted: 15 Jan 2018 08:15 AM PST President Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday the United States was trying to create a "terror army" on Turkey's southern frontier by training a Syrian border force that includes a Kurdish militia, and pledged to crush it before it came into being. "A country we call an ally is insisting on forming a terror army on our borders," Erdogan said in a speech in Ankara. "What can that terror army target but Turkey?" "Our mission is to strangle it before it's even born." Inmates of Florida's prisons are planning to use Monday's Martin Luther King Day holiday to launch a statewide strike over conditions they say amount to modern-day slavery. "Our goal is to make the governor realise that it will cost the state of Florida millions of dollars daily to contract outside companies to come and cook, clean and handle the maintenance," the unnamed prisoners said in a statement posted on the website of the inmates' advocacy group Fight Toxic Prisons. Detroit auto show begins amid talk of NAFTA, tax cuts Posted: 14 Jan 2018 08:16 PM PST The Detroit Auto Show shifted into full gear Sunday with international trade and tax cuts dominating the conversation, even as an optimistic industry raced to meet Americans' seemingly insatiable appetite for trucks and SUVs.
