Rakhine was plunged into crisis last August after a series of militant raids that killed at least a dozen officials prompted a brutal military crackdown that sent some 650,000 Rohingya Muslims fleeing to Bangladesh. While the army insists it only targeted Rohingya rebels, the UN has accused Myanmar troops of waging an ethnic cleansing campaign against the persecuted minority.

Eastern Ghouta, one of the last remaining opposition strongholds in the country, is the target of near-daily air raids. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Saturday's deadliest strikes had hit the Hammuriyeh district, killing 12 civilians including two children.

| Plane grounded 5,000 miles from destination after passenger smears feces all over both toilet cubicles Posted: 06 Jan 2018 04:56 AM PST  A passenger plane was forced to land in Anchorage on its way to Hong Kong after a man smeared his feces on the walls of the in-flight bathroom, airports officials said. United Flight 895, which originated out of Chicago was diverted to Anchorage and grounded Thursday night due to a "passenger smearing feces everywhere," Ted Stevens, of the International Airport Police, told a local CBS station. Airport Police say that the alleged excrement-smearer hit at least two of the bathrooms on the plane, and took off his shirt at some point and tried to stuff it into the toilet.

"In the short term, this news will further scare away investors which will, in turn, slow down cannabis entrepreneurship," said Nicolas Ruiz, co-founder of Cloudponics, a San Francisco startup that makes technology which can be used to grow marijuana.
