Airline pricing appeal denied by Supreme Court Posted: 01 Apr 2013 11:10 AM PDT By Lawrence Hurley WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear a challenge to a federal government rule that requires airlines to advertise the full cost of tickets. Allegiant Travel Co, Southwest Airlines Co and Spirit Airlines Inc had all challenged the U.S. Department of Transportation's regulation, which prohibits airlines from leaving taxes and government fees out of their advertised rates. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld the rule in July on a 2-1 vote. ... |

Death toll hits 34 in Tanzania building collapse Posted: 01 Apr 2013 02:42 AM PDT DAR ES SALAAM (Reuters) - The death toll from the collapse of a multi-storey building in Tanzania has risen to 34 after more bodies were pulled from the rubble, a senior government official said on Monday. Rescue workers at the site in a district in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam have now cleared most of the debris and reached the basement of the building that caved in on Friday morning. It is likely more bodies could be found. Tanzania's buoyant economy has fuelled a building boom, especially in Kariakoo and the city center. ... |
