| U.S. court weighs challenge to Boston gun restrictions Posted: 25 Jul 2018 02:22 PM PDT  A federal appeals court on Wednesday weighed whether the U.S. Constitution guarantees a right to carry guns in public for self-defense in a lawsuit challenging the firearm licensing policies of two Massachusetts municipalities including Boston. The arguments before the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston marked the latest instance in which a federal appeals court has weighed the extent the Constitution's Second Amendment protects the right to carry firearms outside of a person's home. Gun-rights activists hope that appellate court rulings prompt the U.S. Supreme Court to take up its first major gun rights case since 2010.

The Vientiane Times, citing district governor Bounhom Phommasane, said about 19 people have been "found dead", more than 3,000 "require rescue" and about 2,851 have been saved. Earlier, a senior Lao government official, who declined to be identified because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said dozens of people were feared dead after the hydropower dam that was under construction collapsed on Monday.

Haley listed how much those countries, along with Algeria, Tunisia, Pakistan, Oman, Iran and Turkey, had given - or not given - to the U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which helps Palestinian refugees.

| Seagram heiress charged in case against self-help guru Raniere Posted: 24 Jul 2018 07:54 PM PDT  Seagram liquor heiress Clare Bronfman and three other people were arrested on Tuesday on charges that they helped run a criminal enterprise for self-help guru Keith Raniere, who was charged with sex trafficking earlier this year, prosecutors said. Federal prosecutors charged Bronfman, a high-ranking member of Raniere's Albany, New York-based organization Nxivm, with racketeering conspiracy in an indictment unsealed in Brooklyn federal court. Nxivm president Nancy Salzman, her daughter Lauren Salzman and member Kathy Russell were also charged.
