| Hundreds of inmates relocated after Texas prison uprising Posted: 22 Feb 2015 10:57 AM PST (Reuters) - More than 300 inmates from a Texas federal prison damaged in an uprising on Friday were relocated on Sunday and hundreds more will be moved later in the day, said a private contractor who operates the prison. The inmates at the Willacy County Correctional Center in Raymondville, Texas are being transferred to other U.S. Bureau of Prisons facilities in a process that will continue next week, said Issa Arnita, spokesman for Management & Training Corporation. |
| Body of six year old girl found at Branson, Missouri hotel Posted: 22 Feb 2015 10:42 AM PST (Reuters) - The body of a 6-year-old girl was found at a Missouri hotel on Saturday evening shortly after she was reported missing, police said on Sunday, and her death is being treated as suspicious. Jasmine Miller was found dead in a room at the Windsor Inn near the city of Branson, a tourist destination in the Ozark Mountains known for its numerous entertainment theaters, many of which feature country music stars. |

| Retired police officer kills daughters, self in N.Y. suburb: reports Posted: 21 Feb 2015 09:01 PM PST Glen Hochman, 52, who retired from the White Plains police force last month, killed two daughters, ages 17 and 13, before killing himself in Harrison, an affluent town about 15 miles northeast of New York City, newspapers and broadcasters reported, citing police sources. Hochman's wife and an older daughter were not home at the time. "The department is shocked and horrified by the news of this unfathomable tragedy," David Chong, White Plains' public safety commissioner, said in a statement. Hochman served 22 years on the White Plains police force, he said. |

The disturbance began early on Friday at the Willacy County Correctional Center in Raymondville, Texas, which primarily holds individuals who have entered the United States illegally. The prison, which is run by the private company Management & Training Corp, is located about 40 miles (64 km) from the Mexican border. |
| Standoff nearing end at south Texas prison: report Posted: 21 Feb 2015 03:58 PM PST (Reuters) - Law enforcement said they were making progress on Saturday ending a disturbance at a federal correctional facility in southern Texas were as many as 2,000 inmates were protesting medical services, according to a published report. The disturbance began early Friday at the Willacy County Correctional Center, which primarily holds immigrants who entered the United States illegally, and is run by the private company Management & Training Corp, the San Antonio Express-News reported. The unrest, which prison officials said was not a riot, began when prisoners refused to come to breakfast or report for work to protest medical services at the facility, the Express-News and local broadcaster KGBT-TV reported. Management & Training Corp could not immediately be reached for comment about the standoff. |
