Indiana's governor said lawmakers should fix a similar RFRA.


McDonald's raising average worker wage to about $10 an hour

Workers groups said the move by McDonald's, which is also adding benefits such as paid vacations, fell short of their goals. McDonald's, which announced the increases on Wednesday, has been fighting weak traffic and slumping sales in the United States. Starting wages at the restaurants will move to $1 above the locally mandated minimum wage.

Patient evaluated for Ebola at Colorado hospital after seeing symptoms

(Reuters) - A patient was being evaluated in isolation at a Colorado hospital for Ebola on Thursday after experiencing symptoms of the disease, health officials said. The patient, who was not identified and was considered low-risk, had recently traveled to an Ebola-affected country and was transported on Wednesday evening to the Medical Center of the Rockies after falling ill, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said in a statement. Apparent murder-suicide leaves four dead in Oklahoma

(Reuters) - Police discovered four bodies of a family, including two young boys, inside a home in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Wednesday in what appeared to be a murder-suicide, officials said. Tulsa Police Captain Matt McCord told reporters that officers went to the home after receiving a call from the employer of the man in the household, requesting they check up on the house. Police found the bodies, all shot and killed, presumably by the father given the proximity of the gun to his body, McCord told reporters in a video published online by the Tulsa World newspaper.

NYPD detective reassigned after taped tirade against Uber driver

(Reuters) - A New York police detective was transferred from the department's elite Joint Terrorism Task Force on Wednesday after a video showing him screaming at an Uber driver over an alleged traffic violation went viral online, police said. NYPD Commissioner William Bratton said in a statement the detective, whom he did not identify, was placed on modified assignment and transferred following an internal investigation. The officer, named by the New York Times as Patrick Cherry, can be seen in the video of the Monday incident unleashing an expletive-laden tirade against the driver over alleged vehicle and parking violations. You're not important enough." The three-and-a-half minute video appeared to have been captured by a passenger in the car, who commiserated with the driver when the officer had stepped away.
