John Oliver announces he's running for prime minister of Italy because why the heck not Posted: 26 Feb 2018 06:50 AM PST A television personality becoming leader of a country? That's preposterous. SEE ALSO: John Oliver emerges victorious against the man he once called a 'geriatric Dr. Evil' On Sunday night, John Oliver covered the impending Italian election. He ran down the list of candidates, presenting Italy's current political situation as a dire one, particularly given the apparent comeback of ex-prime minister and waxwork come-to-life, Silvio Berlusconi. So he's doing it anyway. "Yes Italy, my candidacy for prime minister may be a complete and total farce," proclaimed Oliver in front of a huge and perfectly satirical toy volcano. "But be honest — incredibly, I am far from your worst option." This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
