Cuba expats in America weigh return to island

US President Barack Obama last week announced the normalization of relations with Cuba, which were severed in 1961. Marisol Camarota said she wouldn't think twice about returning to live in her homeland -- provided she can make a living comparable to what she earns in the United States. By contrast, Hector Martinez -- who fled Cuba years ago on a rickety raft -- wouldn't dream of ever setting foot in Cuba again.


Texas armored car driver accused of theft arrested in Colorado

(Reuters) - An armored car driver in Texas who abandoned his vehicle and made off with $200,000 has been arrested in Colorado on theft charges, and the missing money has been recovered, police said on Thursday. Trent Michael Cook, 24, was arrested at a hotel room in Colorado Springs on Wednesday afternoon along with a suspected accomplice, the Colorado Springs Police Department said in a statement. "Following a carefully orchestrated plan, the driver was contacted in a hotel room and taken into custody without incident," the statement said. Cook, an employee of Rochester Armored Car Co. ...

The two Americans among the six-person crew of the current Expedition 42 — commander Barry "Butch" Wilmore and flight engineer Terry Virts — are getting a break to mark the holiday in space, NASA officials said. Wilmore and Virts recorded a Christmas video message wishing everyone on Earth a Merry Christmas. It's clear from the video that the space station is decked out with lights, Santa hats, Christmas stockings for each crewmember and even a tiny Christmas tree.

(Reuters) - Three people were injured, two of them critically, after a gunman opened fire in a Chicago train station on Wednesday night, police said. The suspect, who has not been apprehended, pulled a gun during an argument with a 41-year-old woman on the mezzanine level of a south side Chicago train station around 10:45 p.m. local time, Chicago Police news affairs officer Amina Greer said. The woman and a 25-year-old man were hit, and both were rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. A 24-year-old man was also injured after being hit in the face by glass fragments, Greer said. ...

CDC worker monitored for possible Ebola exposure in lab error
