Abid Naseer, 29, had faced up to life in prison following his conviction by a U.S. jury in March on charges including that he provided material support to the Islamic militant group. Not in any sense of the word," U.S. District Judge Raymond Dearie in Brooklyn told Naseer when imposing the sentence.

By David Bailey MINNEAPOLIS (Reuters) - Police are searching for three white men in the shooting of five people near a Minneapolis police station where demonstrators have gathered for more than a week to protest the shooting of an unarmed black man by officers. None of the injuries were believed life-threatening in the shooting late Monday, a block from the station where protests have taken place since the fatal shooting of Jamar Clark, 24, on Nov. 15, Minneapolis police said in a statement. The Black Lives Matter Minneapolis group protesting Clark's shooting said on its Facebook page that five unarmed protesters were shot by what it described as white supremacists who had been asked to leave and were followed out.

The white Chicago police officer who shot a black teenager in an incident caught on video is expected to be charged with first-degree murder and appear in a bond hearing on Tuesday, city newspapers reported, citing unnamed sources. Community leaders who met with Mayor Rahm Emanuel said they expected protests on Wednesday, when the city plans to release the video of the October 2014 fatal shooting. It shows Laquan McDonald, 17, being shot 16 times by police officer Jason Van Dyke, who is on administrative duty while state and federal prosecutors investigate.

Four crew members on a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter died when their aircraft crashed during a training exercise at the Fort Hood U.S. Army base in central Texas, military officials said on Tuesday. The crew was assigned to Division West, First Army and on a routine training mission when the helicopter crashed on Monday, at about 6 p.m., the military officials said in a statement.
