American Airlines said on Tuesday it would join Delta Airlines and United Airlines in banning the transport of animals known in Africa as the "big five", coined by hunters because they are the hardest to kill on foot. There has been an international outcry against trophy hunting among animal lovers since it emerged that American dentist Walter Palmer killed Cecil, a rare black-maned lion that was a familiar sight at Zimbabwe's Hwange National Park.


Idaho woman comes under fire for celebrating her killing of giraffe

A big-game trophy collector from Idaho has ignited a firestorm of criticism from animal-rights activists for flaunting online images of herself posed with the carcasses of a giraffe and other wildlife she killed during a recent guided hunt in South Africa. Sabrina Corgatelli, an accountant for Idaho State University, appeared on NBC's "Today" show on Monday to defend trophy hunting amid mounting international outrage over last month's killing of Cecil, Zimbabwe's most famous lion, by an American dentist. Giraffes are very dangerous animals.

The families of victims and two school employees who survived the attack will each receive a $93,750 share of an insurance policy on the Newtown, Connecticut, home where Nancy Lanza lived with her son, gunman Adam Lanza, according to filings at a Bethel, Connecticut, probate court. The 20-year-old gunman began his rampage on Dec. 14, 2012, by shooting and killing his mother with a Bushmaster AR-15 assault rifle before driving to his former elementary school, where he gunned down 20 first-graders and six educators.
