21 more MH17 victims identified, experts fly home Posted: 08 Aug 2014 11:27 AM PDT Dutch forensics experts have identified 21 more victims of flight MH17, the government said on Friday, while their colleagues at the crash site began arriving home from east Ukraine where fighting has stopped the investigation. Meanwhile, Dutch forensics investigation coordinator Arie de Bruijn said around 176 "more-or-less" complete bodies had been recovered from the crash site. Another 527 body parts have also arrived at the forensic investigators' research facility southwest of Amsterdam, De Bruijn told the ANP news agency. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said on Wednesday that the search for body parts at the crash site was being suspended due to escalating clashes between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian separatists. |

Posted: 08 Aug 2014 05:00 AM PDT Giant, towering "fire clouds" billowing up from the wildfires currently ravaging California have been captured in stunning images snapped from fighter jets. Almost 80 percent of California is deep in drought. The dried-out vegetation covering California acted like kindling when lightning strikes earlier this month sparked more wildfires that have scorched more than 100,000 acres (400 square kilometers) across the state. An Oregon Air National Guard F-15C fighter jet snapped photos of some of these fire clouds on July 31, and NASA's Earth Observatory released the images today (Aug. 6). |
